Inter-organizational Collaboration in Public Health

Project Description

The PARTNER Tool was used to compliment quantitative and qualitative analysis on an innovative collaborative that included organizations that support physical and mental health, with those that support the socioeconomic and structural determinants of health (public health, education, workforce). The social network analysis of the survey data collected through the PARTNER Tool showed a visual representation of the collaborative, which provided immediate insight into its social structure and was an excellent starting point for analysis of the relationships. Further insight was gained when the diagrams significantly changed when the frequency of communication or type of activity was taken into account. Throughout the process, it was interesting to see how important features quickly become evident when analyzing and interpreting the results through the PARTNER Tool. Overall, the results provided knowledge that helped us to better understand how the organizations worked together toward their shared goals.

Testimonial

As a practitioner, I was overjoyed to learn about the PARTNER tool, an online survey and analysis tool ready for use by those who would like to better understand and assess the attributes and characteristics of relationships within collaboratives and networks. It was a wonderful introduction to social network analysis, and enabled me to do quickly and easily survey our collaborative, and provided valuable data that we could not have acquired otherwise.

As an emerging scholar in the field of public health systems and services research, I am overjoyed to be able to expand my research in ways that would have been both time and cost prohibitive without the PARTNER Tool.

Thank you!
